We're Glad You're Here!
You’ll find out quickly that this isn’t high school. The professors are different. The people are different. You’re away from home. Choices abound. Chi Alpha is here to help you navigate some of these exciting, but challenging issues. You’re not just another nameless face in XA. Come make new friends - you’ll be glad you did!
Despite our name, we’re not a fraternity or a sorority. Our name is Greek because the New Testament was written in Greek. It comes from 2 Corinthians 5:20 - we are therefore Christ’s (Chi) Ambassadors (Alpha). We often abbreviate our name as XA.
Chi Alpha is one of several Christian ministries at WVU. Other ministries similar to us include Cru, MCM, and InterVarsity. We’re all broadly similar, although each ministry has a theological or stylistic nuance that makes them stand out. What makes us different is our emphasis on the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
